The Declaration

of Independence

Would You Sign?

The Declaration of Independence proclaimed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights; that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness . . .”

These founding principles were severely tested during the American Civil War, when brother fought against brother to determine whether America could long endure half-slave and half-free.  Abraham Lincoln laid down the challenge in his eloquent Gettysburg Address:

“It is for us the living, rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced . . . That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom – and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.”

Today, the Right to Life and Liberty is being severely tested again after more than a century of ideological conflict that has torn the world apart. These same conflicting ideologies now divide America. It is a time of testing for all who believe in God as the source of all the rights we enjoy.

It is time for each of us to ask: Can I pass that test today? If the Declaration of Independence was presented to me for my signature, would I still sign it? 

Do I believe that these truths are self-evident? That all men are really created equal? That I am endowed by my Creator with rights that cannot be taken away by any human authority? And that among these are the Right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness?

If you would sign it, you belong with those of us who have been fighting the good fight for Life and Liberty through the Movement for a Better America for the last 20 years.  Through research and education, we continue to seek innovative ways to advance the cause of Life and Liberty in America.

We also recognize that we live in a new mass media age and that changing hearts and minds will be the ultimate test of who wins and who loses in today’s cultural war.

We can’t simply let the mainstream media continue to dismiss abortion as a minor issue.  We have the strategy and the message to make it a major issue, but we need your help to do it. Your gift of $25, $50, $100 or more can help us make abortion a central issue in the current national dialogue.
